The Mining Guild is responsible for finding, harvesting, and processing subterranean raw materials for the other Guilds to use.

Mining Buildings:

  • Item Bank: Mass Storage
    • Basic Item Bank: The minimum storage capacity for a Basic Item Bank is 20 Double Chests (1,080 stacks), at least 25 Storage Drawers (or more, if needed to store all the items necessary), or equivalent storage capacity.
    • Advanced Item Bank: 50 Double Chests (2,700 individual stacks) and/or 30 Storage Drawers/Barrels, or equivalent storage capacity
    • Expert Item Bank: 200 Double Chests and/or 50 fully upgraded (to taste) Storage Drawers/Barrels and/or equivalent storage capacity.
  • Tool Shed: Tool Storage
    • Basic: 2 Double Chests dedicated to storing tools and/or 5 Bibliocraft Tool Racks/Shelves/etc and/or 1-3 Storage Drawers dedicated to Tools
    • Advanced Tool Shed: 5 Double Chests dedicated to storing tools and/or 15 BibliocraftToolRacks/Shelves/etc and/or 8 Storage Drawers dedicated to Tools
    • Expert Tool Shed: 12 Double Chests dedicated to storing tools and/or 30 Bibliocraft Tool Racks/Shelves/etc and/or 15 Storage Drawers dedicated to Tools
  • Supports: To keep the Mine from Collapsing
    • Not Required in Caverns or Ravines, only in shafts that you mine yourself..
    • The Distance between materials required is determined by the weakest material in your supports.
    • Planks/Fences: Every 8 Blocks
    • Logs: Supports every 16 Blocks
    • Stone (Cobble, Smooth, Brick, etc): Every 32 Blocks
    • Metal Blocks: Every 32 Blocks
    • Diamond Blocks: Every 64 Blocks

Ore Processing: Sorting and Smelting[]

Basic Ore Processing[]

  • Workers: 1 Basic Mining Guild Member
  • At least 1 Double Chest for incoming products
  • 1-4 Furnaces
    • 1 Chest/Storage drawer for Furnace Fuel
  • 1-2 Crafting Benches/Tables for compression of appropriate minerals
  • 2-4 Double chests for storage/export of Processed materials.

Advanced Ore Processing[]

  • Workers:
    • Employs at least 1 Advanced Mining Guild Member
    • May Employ up to 3 Basic Mining Guild Members
  • Filled Item Frame:
    • Must have an Item Frame with a Furnace above or near the front entrance
  • At least 5 Double Chests, or 25 Storage Drawers for incoming products.
  • 15-30 Furnaces
    • There should be 1 Chest or Storage Drawer for Furnace Fuel per 3-5 Furnaces
  • [Tinker's Construct] A Basic Smeltery
    • Must be capable of producing both Ingots and Blocks
      • Does not need to be able to produce tool parts.
    • Must have either at least a single Chest or Tanks (whether Cart, Portable, or stand-alone) for spare Smeltery Lava Storage
  • At least 5 Crafting/Benches/Tables for compression of appropriate minerals.
  • At least 10-20 Double Chests, or 50 Storage Drawers for storage/export of Processed Materials.

Expert Ore Processing[]

  • Workers
    • Employs at least 1 and up to 3 Expert Mining Guild Members
    • Employs at least 3 and up to 8 Advanced Mining Guild Members
    • Employs up to 15 Basic Mining Guild Members
    • Employs at least 1 Manager (Support, Expert)
    • Employs at least 1 Receptionist (Support, Basic)
  • Filled Item Frame
    • Must have an Item Frame with a Furnace above or near the front entrance
  • Banner
    • A Banner (Made to taste, for the given Building, Group, Company, Guild, or Civilization. If Additional Banners or similar mod is installed, should pick an item as close to the building's purpose as possible). Should be displayed near the front entrance, and inside the Gallery (see below)
  • Shipping Dock
    • A dedicated room or platform, with easy access to nearby paths, roads, rails, item networks, or other item transportation methods.
      • Should be relatively sizeable, and have direct or easy access to all non-tool Storage Rooms.
  • Storage (Incoming)
    • Must have at least 25 Double Chests, 50 Storage Drawers, or equivalent for Incoming Materials
    • At least 5 Double Chests, 5 Storage Drawers, or equivalent for Logs if the Ore Processing Facility engages in In-House Fuel Production
  • Storage (Outgoing)
    • At least 50-60 Double Chests, 100 Storage Drawers, or equivalent for Outgoing, Processed Materials
      • Fuel (Lava, Coal Coke, Sugar Coke, Charcoal, etc) produced in-house does not need to be shipped out
      • Coal/Blocks may be shipped out if desired
  • Storage (Fuel)
    • Should have at least 10 Double Chests, Storage Drawers, or equivalent for Item-based Fuel
    • Lava (both the Liquid Storage Room and/or the Smeltery Room[s] may be stored here instead of any other room, if desired)
  • Storage (Liquid[s])
    • Must have storage for at least 54 Buckets (1 Double Chest of filled Buckets) of Lava for this room alone
      • If any other rooms store Lava here instead of storing it in their own Room, that Storage is added on to the base 54 Bucket storage for each Room storing their Lava here.
    • Should have storage for at least 27 Buckets (1 Chest of filled Buckets) of EACH liquid material (whether animal, mineral, or vegetable) produced in Buckets, Tanks (Block, Multi-Block, Bucket, Cart, etc)
      • If any other rooms store Liquid here instead of storing it in their own Room, that Storage is added on to the base 27 Bucket storage for each Room storing their Liquid here.
  • Storage (Tools)
    • At least an Expert Tool Shed
  • Work Rooms: Must have at least 3 Work Rooms (See Work Room Options, below)
    • Must have at least 15-20 Crafting Benches/Tables, or 1-5 machines for compression of appropriate materials
    • Grinding Room: Pick at least one of the options listed in the Grinding Section
    • Smelting: Pick at least one option in the Smelting section
    • In-House Fuel Production: If desired, pick at least one option in the In-House Fuel Production section
  • Manager's Office
    • The Manager is responsible for paperwork, scheduling, orders (of material both coming in and shipped out), managing issues, managing disputes amongst the workers, and being yelled at by politicians, law enforcement, customers, and their spouse (if applicable).
    • Item Frame(s):
      • A Book and Quill in an Item Frame must be above/next to the door to the Manager's Office.
    • The Manager must have a Desk
    • The Manager must have at least 2 bookshelves.
    • The Manager must have at least a Double Chest (or equivalent) for storage.
  • Gallery
    • All of the Building's outputs should be put on display. Blocks should be placed (in Item Frames/shelves/etc, in/on the floor/walls, or on the floor as desired), Items should be placed in Item Frames, Bibliocraft displays (Shelves/Display Case/etc), Monitors, etc. The Item (not/not just the name) should be visible.
    • Banner(s): At least one of the building/Guild/Civilization's banners must be displayed prominently in the Gallery
    • Luxuries:
      • The Gallery must be carpeted
      • The Gallery should have at least 2-4 additional luxuries
    • Receptionist's Desk: A Desk for the receptionist should be placed near the front door. They are responsible for dealing with whoever comes through the door
      • there should be a chest or other storage device (not visible from the front door) with a weapon (at least a Metal Sword, if available) to deal with any "unpleasant guests"

Expert Ore Processing Work Room Options[]

  • Grinding (If Applicable): At least 3 Quartz Grindstones (or at least 1 powered equivalent) to grind ores into dusts.
  • Smelting: Choose one of the following:
    • At least 50 Furnaces for processing Material
      • There should be at least 1 Chest or Storage Drawer for Furnace Fuel per 3-5 Furnaces
        • If automatic Item Routing/Ducts/Hoppers are used, and all Chests/Drawers are part of the same network, then 1 Chest/Storage Drawer per 10-12 Furnaces
    • [Tinker's Construct] An Advanced Smeltery
      • The Smeltery must be capable of producing both Ingots and Blocks
        • Does not need to be able to produce tool parts
      • Must have storage for at least 54 buckets worth of spare Smeltery Lava Storage (may be Tanks of any kind, Buckets, etc)
        • May be in Item Storage (Liquid), iin addition to the base 54 Buckets requirement
      • Must have storage for at least 27 buckets worth of storage for Each kind of Molten Item produced, if kept in liquid form
        • May be in Item Storage (Liquid) Room, in addition to the base 27 Bucket requirement
  • In-House Fuel Production (if appropriate): Choose at least one of the following options
    • At least 10 Furnaces for producing Charcoal
      • There should be at least 3 Double Chests or 6 Storage Drawers for Logs/Fuel for producing in-house Charcoal
    • At least 12 Furnaces producing Sugar Charcoal
      • There should be at least 3 Double Chests or 6 Storage Drawers for Sugar Cane
    • Coal Coke Fuel Production Options:
      • At least 5 Coke Ovens producing Coal Coke from Coal/Blocks
        • There should be at least 1 Double Chest or 2 Storage Drawers for Coal/Blocks
        • There should be at least 2-3 Crafting Benches/Tables for compressing Coal into Coal Blocks
        • There should be storage for at least 54 Buckets worth of Creosote Oil, whether Buckets, Tanks (Portable, Cart, or semi-permanent Tanks), or otherwise
          • May be stored in Storage (Liquid) Room, in addition to the base 27 Bucket requirements
      • At least 10 Coke Ovens producing Charcoal from Logs
        • There should be at least 3 Double Chests or 6 Storage Drawers for Logs
        • There should be storage for at least 54 Buckets worth of Cresote Oil, whether Buckets, Tanks (Portable, Cart, or semi-permanent Tanks), or otherwise.
          • May be stored in Storage (Liquid) Room, in addition to the base 27 Bucket requirerments
    • [Forestry] Charcoal Pit
      • A Charcoal Pit that contains at least 50 Wood Piles (figured in 2 layers of 5x5)
        • At least 3 Double Chests or 6 Storage Drawers for Logs
        • At least 2-3 Crafting Benches/Tables for compressing Logs into Wood Piles
        • At least 5 Flint/Steel stored at or near the pit at any one time
        • At least 10 Double Chests or 12 Storage Drawers for Charcoal/Ash produced in the Pit

Professional Ore Processing:[]

Coming with the Nobility Update. Will have generally ludicrous requirements, including:

  • Each Material (Iron, Gold, Diamond, Coal, etc) will have its own processing facility (smelting/grinding/etc)
  • In-House Lava Production (If possible in your game)
  • Shrine to Petra

Mining Guild Harvesting Stations[]

There are three kinds of Mining Guild Harvesting Stations generally used in the Overworld: The Mine Head, the Ravinne outpost, and the Cavern Camp. Generally only Mine Heads employ Expert Mining Guild Members, though either of the other two stations may be upgraded to a Mine Head at any point. Additionally, if the Caverns are particularly dangerous or extensive, then occasionally Cavern Camps may employ an Expert.

    • Pickaxe
    • Bucket of Water, Stack of Sand/Gravel, or Stack of Ladders/Vins for Navigation Assistance
    • Either a Digger's or Miner's Backpack
    • Some kind of food
  • Depth Restrictions:
    • Up to Wood Settlement: May not go below Y 45
    • Up to Stone Settlement: May not go below Y 30
    • Iron Village+: No Depth Restrictions
  • Up to Wood Settlement: May only hunt for resources in Ravinnes that have a clear line of sight to the sky
  • Stone Settlement Onwards: May explore any Ravinne.

Expert Miner[]

  • Equipment
    • Full Set of Armor
    • Dedicated Weapon
      • Sword, etc
    • Pickaxe/Hammer
    • Shovel/Equivalent
    • Bucket of Water, Stack of Gravel/Sand, or stack of Ladders/Vines for Navigation aids

Mine Head[]

Mine Heads are by far the most common Harvesting Station that the Mining Guild builds. They can begin anywhere, and dig down into the ground, hoping to hit materials worth harvesting. Usually Expert Miners are only employed in Mine Heads, though they may occasionally be found in Cavern Camps

Basic Mine Head[]

Often not much more than a glorified hole in the ground, the Basic Mine Heads are sometimes mistaken for random item caches dropped next to a cave entrance.

  • Workers: Employs at least 1 Basic Miner
  • Item Bank: At least 3 Double Chests
  • Tools: At least 1 Double Chest for storing Tools
  • Requires Supports to keep the Mine from Collapsing

Advanced Mine Head[]

Advanced Mine Heads require dedicated buildings, and at least a small security force to prevent hostile mobs from escaping the mine.

  • Workers:
    • Employs at least 1 Advanced Miner
    • May Employ up to 3 Basic Miners
    • Employs a Security Team of at least 2 Members (Security Support, Basic)
  • Filled Item Frame:
    • Must have an Item Frame with some kind of Pickaxe above or near the front entrance
  • Item Bank:
    • Must have at least a Basic Item Bank
  • Tools:
    • At least a Basic Tool Shed
  • Security Barracks
    • Must have a Barracks with beds for every Security Team Member
    • Must have an Armory with enough storage for every Security Team Member

Expert Mine Head[]

Expert Mine Heads are fortified outposts, ready to defend themselves from above or below. They have enough resources to last quite some time in any siege, and have facilities in-house to repair their own tools.

  • Workers
    • Employs at least 1 and up to 3 Expert Miners
    • Employs at least 2 and up to 6 Advanced Miners
    • Employs up to 10 Basic Miners
    • Employs a Manager
    • Employs at least a 4-8-mob Security Team
  • Filled Item Frame
    • An Item Frame with any kind of Pickaxe must be displayed above or near the front entrance of the Mine
  • Banner
    • A Banner (Made to taste, for the given Building, Group, Company, Guild, or Civilization. If Additional Banners or similar mod is installed, should pick an item as close to the building's purpose as possible). Should be displayed near the front entrance.
  • Shipping Dock

      • Should have at least 2 Double Chests dedicated to food for the Miners
  • Storage (Tools)
    • Should have an Expert Tool Shed
      • For the Miners. The Security Team stores their weaponry and armor in their own armory.
  • Work Rooms
    • Tool Repair
    • Security Station(s)
  • Security Barracks
    • Must Contain Barracks with a bed for every Security Support, Basic
    • Must Contain Private Rooms for every Security Support, Advanced
    • Must Contain an Armory with enough storage for every member of the Security Team
    • Must have at least 1 Rec Room
  • Manager's Office

  • Must Contain at least 1 Anvil (If Available)
  • [Tinker's Construct] Must Contain at least 1 Tool Station and/or Tool Forge
  • Must Contain at least 3 Double Chests, 4 Storage Drawers, or equivalent to store items for repairing tools

Security Station(s)

  • Security Stations house Security Teams (Security Support, Basic or Advanced) that protect both the Mine and the Overworld from mobs.
    • Each Security Station should have at least 1 Advanced Security Support member, with at least 1-3 Basic Security Support members backing them up.
    • There must be 1 Security Station protecting the front entrance
    • There must be 1 Security Station at the point where the mine shaft(s) meet the rest of the Mining Head facility.
    • Additional Security Stations may be placed as desired.
    • If 15 or more Security Team members total are present, a Chow Hall must be constructed (Miners may eat at the Chow Hall as well).

Professional Mine Heads[]

coming in the Nobility Update Will have generally ludicrous requirements, including at least:

  • An Expert Ore Processing facility in-house
  • At least a 25-30 man Security Team
  • A Shrine to Terrim

Ravinne Outpost[]

Ravinne Outposts come only in Basic and Advanced categories, but may be converted to Expert Mine Heads once all resources in a given Ravinne are mined out.
